Where Do You Live?

State:

For anyone who grew up in the eighties, you will probably remember Knight Rider and how a young David Hasslehoff drove a talking car called KIT. After nearly thirty years, we are about to see that fantasy becoming a reality because talking cars are said to be the next generation of cars. Talking cars are something that a lot of manufacturers are investing in at the moment but just what they have to talk about is a mystery.

Although there is nothing to be unveiled this year that will wow the market, car manufacturer Ford are developing a voice recognition system that will understand more commands than you could probably think of to issue. This is very impressive especially when you consider that there are plans to have it made available in 19 different languages.

It might be the case that you ask the car for directions instead of using a SAT NAV system. So if you wanted to find a local hotel you could just ask your car to find you one rather than having to pull over to use your sat nav. Ford have been testing a reduced version of the voice recognition system in the US for some time now and they are planning to make it available in Europe as well.

This voice system is set to become a luxury option in cars as opposed to a standard option because it will cost around £350; however it will be more sophisticated than anything that we have these days. What is good though is that if you get in to an accident it can actually call the emergency numbers and inform them exactly where you are. But one problem with the Sync Voice system is the fact that it can prevent drivers from using hands free kits for their mobiles and this means it could cause more accidents.

Engineering advancements in the present day are often incredible. And the motor vehicle industry bears testament to this statement. Take everything to do with the city cars. With far reaching innovations in electric vehicles such as crossover cars naming just a few.
