The 2010 Toyota Prius raises the stakes in the hybrid world. Great gas mileage is what has sold over 1 million Prius Hybrids. The Prius gets a 1.The Prius has a new larger engine.5L.The new Prius has a larger engine, increased torque, and lower gearing that improve fuel economy.Horsepower is up 50 for the 2010 model.

Past versions will be eclipsed by the 2010 Prius, which is up by 4 MPG.  Of course there are those out there who employ some great hypermiling techniques or they use plain old frugal driving habits to net upwards of 75 MPG out of their Prius!  Nevertheless the improved fuel economy is due to the redesigned lighter stiffer body and powertrain, which has been reconfigured for less weight. Engine noise is toned down thanks to a stiffer chassis.

In redesigning the Prius, engineers have successfully improved the steering by angling the wheels slightly and creating brake discs at all four corners. The 2010 Prius comes stock with some features that you had to pay for on previous models such as: air, CD Stereo, power locks, and windows. Cruise control, a touch tracer system, salellite navigation, and solar power sunroof are all features on the new Prius.

The regenerative braking system that captures heat from braking and turns it into electricity to recharge the batteries has also been improved. The new Prius has earned a top spot in terms of safety. Some features include, seven airbags, as well as a driver knee bag, anti-lock brakes, traction and stability control, tire pressure monitors, radar cruise control, a lane-departure warning system, a rearview camera, a “Safety Connect” system, and Intelligent Parking Assist.
