Scooters are distinguished from other categories of motorcycles with its protective leg shield, step-through frame and footboard. Its wheels are generally smaller than other motorcycles. The scooters are further classified into electric scooters, mobility scooters, gas scooters, motorized scooters and kick scooters.
Gas scooters are the most common in the market as well as the street. They engines come with a wide range in terms of power from 50cc to as high as 250cc. The gas scooters usually have the step through frame. But then there are also gas scooters that come with sportier looks. Most are meant for city driving while there are those that are specially meant also for driving on highways. Of all the vehicles on the road, scooters beat them all in terms of fuel economy. They give you as much as 75 miles to a gallon. Being easily maneuverable, they are easily driven through congested roads. They need very little place to park as they are small. Mobility scooters are specially designed for use by the elderly and the handicapped. They are safe and slow. Their speed is as low as 5 to 10 miles per hour. Teenagers have been specially targeted with the motorized scooters which are also known as segways, standup or gas scooters, seated scooters and mopeds. They are less in cost and also give a good mileage. They are stylish and come in a variety of designs. Kick Scooters which are also called Push scooters are meant for school kids. They do not sport an engine and so are totally non-polluting. The scooters glide over the roads with a push with the leg on the ground. They can easily be transported that the kids can even take them to school. They are very cheap.
Electric scooters are another type of scooters. Its uniqueness is that instead of gasoline it runs on battery motor. No longer is there any need to be concerned about the constant hike in gasoline price. There are a variety of models in electric scooters such as Eped Sport/City, ZAP Zapino, Vectrix VX-1, Yo Speed, E-Solex, E300S Razor scooter, Peugeot Scoot’Elec, EVT-4000e, Ezip Electric Scooters and Io-scooter.
Electric scooters are non-polluting as its emissions are low. It runs more or less noiseless. But it runs slower as its speed is low. It needs to be recharged which is a plug-in very frequently as it runs only a short distance. In terms of cost, some models are cheaper as compared to gas scooters.
