Where Do You Live?

State:

Why not consider Government Seized Vehicle Auctions when you need a economical used car.  Cars are auctioned off to the highest bidder, and it can be a fantasic way to get a real deal. Many secondary used car dealers purchase the vehicles this way and then resell them to the general public at a 100% profit or more.

Government Seized Vehicle Auctions are attended by many people throughout the United States, and some even search online in the comfort of their home.  The government has cars that have come from government fleets, state and local municipalities, and DEA and US Marshall seizures.  When drug dealers are arrested by DEA or the US Marshall, 90% of the time any assets seized becomes the property of the government. Some government auctions may include Mercedes convertibles, SUV’s, and Toyotas that can be bought at much less than book value. Some auctions also include mobile homes, trailers, motorcyles, office machinery, kitchen appliances and any other personal items seized during a drug raid. The United States Coast guard even offers boat auctions.

Other government fleet vehicles, such as cars driven by administrative people in various government agencies, police cars and trucks and vans for government agencies such as transportation, highway departments, GSA, and other public programs are offered in government auctions once they are a few years old, because the government cannot afford any downtime for maintenance. Most times, these vehicles have been maintained on a regular basis and are a better cheap used car than you could find at any second hand car dealership.

Most of the time if there are repairs to be done, the government will list the defects in some descriptions, unlike second hand car dealerships. Many times bidding starts as low as $100, and even if repairs are needed, it still is a fantastic way to get a cheap used car. Of course, you will also find wrecked cars at an auction for those that want to rebuild themselves.  If you are attending a physical auction, a day and time will be set so that you can view and start the engine before the auction.

It is best to find a selection of several, in case you are outbid. They will not normally let you actually drive the car, and once you have won the bid, you will be responsible for moving the vehicle in a short time or the same day, whether it starts or not.  Some people will take their mechanic to inspect the vehicles when they go for the inspection prior to the government auction.  This helps you to know possible upcoming maintenance issues, so that you can factor that into any bid you may be thinking of.  It is a good idea to do some research as to the resale value by looking it up in a Blue Book.  You will have to have financing lined up and finalized prior to the government seized vehicle auction, as they normally want cash. We do, however, have options available to assist you with finding a car loan.
