Beat Traffic With These Tips
Where Do You Live?
Few things are more stressful than sitting in gridlock traffic. These numbers are staggering; we spend almost thirty six hours a year stuck in traffic. The average commute is around 24.3 minutes and Americans spend on average 100 hours annually driving to and from work. Here are a few tips to help you cope.
If you drive slowly, please keep to the right or slower lanes. The left lanes are for individuals who are passing. You don’t want to inadvertently cause someone’s road rage and hold up the entire freeway by cruising in the fast (far left lane) at 40 mph, especially during rush hour when everyone is rushing to work. Try to take short cuts whenever possible. Taking side streets can help speed things up a bit. You want to avoid freeways which only consist of a few lanes (one prime example is the 5 North Freeway in Los Angeles which siphons into three lanes at one point).
One excellent tip is to go online and check out the Sigalert website before you leave to see if there is a traffic jam. If it is busy you can plan alternate routes. If you aren’t home you can use a smart phone in order to check the flow of traffic. It’s a good idea to listen to the radio in the morning if you commute to work; many stations offer frequent traffic updates. You can also look into getting a GPS that provides real-time traffic news such as some Garmin models. Lakeland Ford Dealer has the F-150 and Mustang in stock
It’s possible to save time by taking the bus or Metrolink. In some cases it may be faster to take Metrolink instead of driving. It’s also a lot more pleasant to relax on the Metrolink on a trip from Orange County to Los Angeles instead of sitting in traffic for hours.
Always leave extra early. This may not sound easy, especially if you’re tired in the mornings. The truth is that you never know what will happen. Minor setbacks such as slight rain or a fender bender can back up traffic big time. Marin Luxury sells Corte Madera Infiniti
There are times when being stuck in traffic is unavoidable. Just remember to stay calm and think relaxing thoughts. No matter how angry or frustrated you get, it’s not going to help you arrive at your destination any sooner.
