Things have changed greatly in recent years though and there is no good reason to believe that most of us will be driving this type of vehicle in the not too distant future.

To be perfectly honest, we really have used up most of the worlds resources for petrol which makes this type of car something that will soon become a thing of the past; diesel cars will probably follow suit in a decade or two. The price of petrol is becoming quite erratic due to the fact that there are very few fossil fuels left in the world and those that are left are in locations where politics is playing a part. Even though a lot of electricity is generated from the same fossil fuels, we are seeing changes to this and in the future it is expected that renewable energy will be the main source of our electricity. Hopefully it will become a lot cheaper for us to keep our electric cars on the road because they too will be fueled with renewable energy.
The fact that advances in electric cars have been so amazing lately means that more and more people will want to buy them. The big car manufactures are spending a fortune on this technology and there is now too much money invested for them turn back. The future seems almost certain to be electric cars so it seems likely that most of us will soon be driving them.
