In electric mode, this car is able to travel up to 50 miles and it has a top speed of 100 mph. The powerhouse of this vehicle is composed of a 1.4 L, 84 horsepower 4-cylinder engine which is powered by a 16kwh battery pack and a 111kwh drive motor. With a slick design, $41,000 is a nice deal.
Nissan’s premiere electric car, the Leaf, became available last December 2010 and is certainly going to amaze a lot of drivers worldwide. With high-tech features and attractive design, Nissan’s investment in this electric car is worth it. To date, the Nissan Leaf is still the highest selling new electric cars in the market today. Under the hood is a 24kwh li-ion battery pack partnered with an electric motor of 80kw which makes it run to an amazing 60 to 110 miles. Meanwhile, the Fisker Karma is a high-performance stylish electric vehicle that is designed by Henrik Fisker, hence the name. Unfortunately, this car may be too heavy for your type, weighing about 5,000 lbs. Additionally, there may be issues about how will its weight affect its performance, despite of its 22kwh lithium-ion battery pack and twin electric motors and 2L GM-sourced EcoTec engine. Anyway, this can run with electricity for up to 60 miles and with additional 200 miles with the gas engine. Though nobody has driven it yet, it is expected to run fast. The car will be released on March 2011.
